The NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS) combines electronic booking with a choice of place, date and time for first hospital or clinic appointments. Patients can choose their initial hospital or clinic appointment, book it in the GP surgery at the point of referral, or later at home on the phone or online.

How to get an e-Referral
Please book a face to face appointment with one of our doctors who will discuss it with you and refer as appropriate. We are unable to organise NHS referrals over the phone.
Most referrals are made via a system called 'e-RS'. If a referral is thought necessary, you will be offered a choice of hospitals or providers who can see you for your problem. The doctor will discuss this with you.
You will be given a telephone number to call to book your appointment, together with your reference number for this referral and a password. You will either be given this by the doctor during your appointment, or if this is not possible, we will either ask you to call back for it in 48 hours or we can e-mail the details to you.
If you need help with any of this or find it confusing, please speak to one of our administrators.
